Description
In a nutshell:
Quite simply a soft, easy drinking and very pleasurable left bank claret
The lowdown:
For claret fans, this is like a pair of comfy slippers; silky smooth in texture it's got stacks of ripe black fruit, a touch of tobacco and leather from the fine-grained tannins and understated herbal notes on the crisp finish. It's the second wine of Château Potensac in which merlot plays the leading role ably supported by cabernet sauvignon and a bit of cabernet franc. A lot going on here for a modest outlay.
The Producer:
Château Potensac, up in the northern Médoc, is a Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel, owned by the Delon family. They also own some big names like Château Léoville Las Cases and Château Nenin. Potensacs wines are classic Médoc - structured with firm tannins, good acidity, that can age really well. For Bordeaux wines that showcase solid craftsmanship and tradition, Potensac is a reliable choice.
When to drink:
Snap this up, drink and indulge in its attractiveness right now. Food pairing? Roast lamb, naturally.
