Description
In a nutshell:
Brown ale thats malty enough to satisfy, but with a cheeky hop twist.
The lowdown:
This is Kernel's modern riff on a classic. It's the perfect middle ground if you love their hoppy pale ales, but also crave that richer, maltier depth you get in their porters. There's a-lovely toasty, almost smoky flavour from the malt, but it's those HBC 431 hops that really sing. It shows that brown ale isn't some fuddy-duddy relic this one's got real spark.
The Brewery
The Kernel is the original Bermondsey craft brewery and was founded in 2009 by Evin O'Riordan, who wanted to create a brewery that focused on using the best ingredients and brewing techniques to produce beers that were both delicious and complex. They quickly gained a reputation for their hoppy beers, such as IPAs and DIPAs. However, they also turn out a wide range of other styles ranging from stouts, porters, saisons, and sours and even the odd lager or two. Theyre also committed to experimentation and innovation and are constantly pushing the boundaries. This has resulted in some quite unique and special beers, such as their barrel-aged and mixed fermentation beers.
Style - Brown Ale & Mild & Other Ales ABV 5.6% - Moderate Strength
